Box

“Box explores the synthesis of real and digital space through projection-mapping onto moving surfaces. The short film documents a live performance, captured entirely in camera…It is the culmination of multiple technologies, including large scale robotics, projection mapping, and software engineering.”

Whooooooa.

Projection mapping is sufficiently magical when displayed on static surfaces but to see it like this takes the medium to a whole new level. Cheers to Bot & Dolly for some absolutely stellar watchables.

Thanks for sending this our way, Garrett!

Battle of Branchage

seeper put together this architectural mapping piece for the Branchage Film Festival, held annually on the small island of Jersey, just off the coast of Normandy. There’s been a lot of great videos released in the mapping/projection space recently but I especially like this one because of how it alternates between showing what it was like to experience the show up close (complete with crowd reactions) as well as far away.

Crysteena

Upper First put this stunner together for Swedish electro outfit Mille by having Transfett project lots of colorful moving abstract goodness onto mannequins inside a darkened warehouse.  It starts off fun and just keeps getting better and better towards the end.  Dim the lights for this one. Enjoy!

French filmmaker Xavier Chassaing put together this stunner by combining over 35,000 photographs utilizing “an innovative mix of stop motion and live projection mapping techniques.”

Prague Astronomical Clock 600th Anniversary

A gorgeous, trippy video projection created for the 600 year anniversary of the Old Town Square astrological tower clock in center of Prague.  The intricate mapping was done by macula.  A must watch.
